I received product samples in exchange for a fair and honest review, however my opinions are 100% my own.
We love to snack around here at our house and it’s hard to always choose healthy options when what we are craving may not be so good. My kids are actually better than I am, and will often ask for an apple or orange over chips or sweets. Me…not so much. Let’s just say that I have a hard time with temptation, especially when there’s chocolate in the house. So what do you do when you’re dragging all afternoon and have an intense craving for something satisfying yet healthy at the same time? Is that even a possibility?
Why, yes it is…with baking mixes from Wholesome Cravings! I was recently sent some yummy baking mixes to try out in my home and hopefully end my sugary cravings once and for all.
Wholesome Cravings began with two moms with a wonderful idea! They knew just how hard it was so eat healthy, serve healthy snacks to their kids, and yet not lose out on taste. Wholesome Cravings offers delicious baking mixes and bars in several flavors, including Apple Ginger, Pumpkin Spice, and Decadent Chocolate Chip. These mixes are all gluten and dairy free, and contain all-natural, preservative free ingredients without any artificial sweeteners.
What’s so amazing about these mixes and bars is that they are packed with protein, fiber and just taste so GOOD. Plus, you add your own sweetener to the mix so you are free to use much more healthier options for your family. I used honey in the bars that I made and they were perfect!
When I say packed with protein, I really do mean it! Each mix contains 10 grams of protein when prepared as directed. That’s one snack that will fill you up and keep you going strong!
For my review, I baked up a batch of Apple Raisin Ginger Bars, using the Apple Ginger baking mix. I was really surprised with just how easy it was to whip up these yummy bars. Plus, you can throw in your own additions as well to add even more nutrition. These bars baked quickly in just 20 minutes and my whole family devoured them. I loved the lightly sweet taste and full flavor of these bars. Even my two year old loved these, so I know they’re awesome!
You will need:
1 Apple Ginger baking mix from Wholesome Cravings
sweetener of your choice (I used raw honey)
3/4 cup frozen apple juice concentrate
1 small/medium apple, diced
1/2 cup raisins
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Combine eggs, juice and sweetener in medium bowl. Add dry mix and stir until smooth.
3. Pour batter into a prepared 8×8 square baking dish and bake for about 20 minutes, or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
Cool and cut into bars…and enjoy!
