This chilli is a sure fire way to warm up on a cold day or night! Packed with lots of stick to your ribs goodness, it fills you up and keeps you energized too. This is a sweet and spicy chilli, thanks to the secret ingredient..brown sugar! Everyone will want a second bowl. This is an adaptation of a family recipe and I hope you enjoy it.
We love to top this chilli with our favorite shredded cheeses, oyster crackers or corn chips!
Servings: about 12 servings
You will need:
2 lbs. ground beef or ground turkey
1 small onion, diced
1 or 2 small cans of green chillis
2 32 ounce cans tomato sauce
2 15 ounce cans petite diced tomatoes
2 15 ounce cans chilli beans
2 15 ounce cans light red kidney beans
1 packet chilli seasoning
1 tablespoon chilli powder
1/2 cup brown sugar
water, about 15 ounces
1. Brown ground beef and cook onion in large skillet until meat is no longer pink and onion is cooked. Drain. Add meat and onion to large pot.
2. Add tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, green chillis,kidney beans, chilli beans, chilli seasoning packet, chilli powder, brown sugar and 15 ounces of water to pot. Stir to combine.
3. Bring chilli to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 30 minutes.
4. Serve with your favorite shredded cheese, crackers, or corn chips!
