As a mom of four, I am always on the lookout for healthy snack foods for my kids. I don’t mind letting them indulge in candy or other goodies every now and then, but usually I always keep fresh fruit, veggies and low cal snacks in the house for those times that they get the munchies. I am a snack lover myself, and so is my husband. We especially love snacking while watching a movie at night. However, we are trying to watch our waistlines too, so it’s not always easy to find something delicious and half-way healthy for those movie nights!
Introducing YummySwaps by YummyHealth!
I recently had the opportunity to try out some brand new snacks from YummyHealth. The founder behind YummyHealth, Lisa GoldBaum, mom and journalist was tired of searching for truly healthy snacks for her kids and decided to create YummySwaps. YummySwaps products are low in sugar (yes really!) and starches too. They are high in fiber, gluten-free, good sources of protein and calcium, contain no artificial colors, flavors or other gross stuff.
At present you can find YummySwaps snack bars, snack chips and also a line of zero calorie, naturally sweetened sodas too!
So How Do They Taste?
My whole family was very impressed with YummySwaps. The first snack we sampled was the YummySwaps snack bar, in Chocolate Blast. My children range in age from 12 down to 20 months old, and all of them loved this snack bar, as did I! It is made with sugar free dark chocolate which gave it a bold chocolatey flavor that we all loved. It also contains some coconut which was delicious and satisfying at the same time. Now when I mention coconut, don’t mistake this for a Mounds or Almond Joy bar. No way! It had just enough coconut in the filling but not too much. We also were very surprised with how filling this snack bar was! This would make a great in between meal snack or after dinner dessert. If you or your kids get those intense chocolate cravings, this bar is for you!
The next snack that we enjoyed was the YummySwaps snack chips, in Nacho, Pizza, and Cheese flavors. Wow were these ever delicious! My kids taste tested all three flavors and my oldest daughter was the first to comment. She tasted the Pizza flavor and stated that it tasted like “actual homemade cheese pizza” and said it was very tasty. My oldest son tasted the Nacho chips and said they were very good and very cheesy! My youngest son tasted the Cheese chips and said he couldn’t believe how much they tasted like REAL cheese. Then my toddler also ate some of the Cheese chips and gobbled them up, so I am guessing she approved of them as well!
We all love cheese in our house, and YummySwaps snack chips are made from 99% cheese! Yes, that is an amazing amount of real Wisconsin cheese in a snack, don’t you think? These snack chips are not exactly like potato chips but definitely are not lacking in the crunch factor. They actually look like cute crunchy cheese chips. See my photo above. They are made from semi-soft cheese as the first ingredient so this explains the interesting shape and texture of these snack chips. Again, as with the snack bars, we could not believe how filling and satisfying these chips were. It has to be all of that delicious cheesy goodness!
These chips would be a great after school snack or lunch side item, or evening time movie snack for Mom and Dad! Yay!
YummySwaps from YummyHealth scored very high in our family! It is so nice to finally have an easy and healthy snack option for the kids and ourselves that actually tastes great too!
