Whether you have traditional bedside lamps, overhead lights, or compact fluorescent lamps from GenesisLamp.com, you need to replace the bulbs from time to time. If you do this incorrectly, your lights will not function in the manner that was intended. For instance, you might accidentally replace a 3-way bulb with a normal bulb. It will only turn on for one of the settings, meaning that the other two settings are useless, and they could also be draining power trying to work even when the lamp is off. Other exchanges could cause a bulb to burn out because too many volts could be sent through a bulb that was intended for far less.
The easiest way to make sure that you get the correct bulbs is to take them out of your lamps and light fixtures and bring them to the store with you. You can then look for exact matches with bulbs that are same type, that have the same amount of settings, and that use the same amount of volts as your old bulbs. If you are unsure where to begin, you could just give the old bulbs to a sales associate and tell him or her that you need replacements.
When you bring the bulbs into the store, make sure that you tell someone at the front what you are planning to do. They will be able to mark the bulbs so that another worker does not think that you are taking them out of the boxes and stealing them.
