So I have decided that my icecream maker really is worth its weight in gold! Or rather, maybe it is worth my weight in gold! 😉
Anyway, we have had so much fun with it so far this summer, and I still have so many recipes that I’d like to try. This recipe came about for a couple of reasons. Firstly, we love chocolate chip icecream, and second, we had some mini chocolate chips left over from this recipe. So we had everything we needed and a really hot steamy day here in Florida. Perfect weather for fresh cold icecream!
I think next on my list to make might be a sorbet!
You will need:
2 cups 2% milk (you can also use whole milk here for even creamier icecream)
1 cup half n half
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
1. In a medium bowl, combine milk, half n half, sugar and vanilla and stir thoroughly until sugar is dissolved. Cover and refrigerate for about 2 hours or until completely chilled.
2. Pour this mixture into your icecream maker freezer bowl and allow machine to mix for about 15 minutes. Half way through the mixing cycle, add the mini chocolate chips.
3. Pour the icecream which will be a soft serve consistency, into a medium bowl. Cover and place in freezer for about 2 hours or until a firmer consistency is reached.
Serve in your favorite icecream cone and enjoy!
