I made these really cute Hawaiian lei kits for our homeschool luau party today. They were so much fun and easy to make, with just a few household items needed!
You will need:
yarn or ribbon, any color, cut 2 to 2 1/2 feet long for each lei
plastic straws, any color, cut into 1 1/2 inch long pieces
construction paper, all colors
Start by drawing a simple flower design on construction paper. This will be used as your pattern for cutting out the other flowers. Layer several sheets of construction paper together, and using the flower pattern, cut out about 14 paper flowers for each lei you plan to make.
Punch holes in the middle of each paper flower using the hole punch. Set these aside for later.
Cut the plastic straws into 1 1/2 inch sections. You will need about 15 sections for each lei you plan to make.
Now begin threading the yarn or ribbon with the straw sections and paper flowers. So much fun and great for little ones as well as big kids too! This is also a fun party idea! Feel free to add glitter or other decorations to the paper flowers as well!
