So this weekend we decided to start riding our bikes again, now that the weather has been nicer. I had been looking for a good bike trailer to carry my youngest in and I posted about that here. I decided to go ahead and purchase the InStep Sync Single Bicycle Trailer, Green/Gray. It really was a great deal for the money, and I knew we would get a lot of use out of it. Also, my old bike trailer was an InStep and it lasted a long time!
When the bike trailer arrived at our house, I opened it and read through the set up instructions and assembled the trailer so that I wouldn’t have any issues once we were actually at the bike trail. It is really a very compact trailer since it’s only made for one child. Even though it’s smaller, there is still a lot of room to store water bottles, snacks, and other essentials at the back, under the seat part.
The trailer’s sides both fold down twice which makes it very easy to fold and store in the back of a vehicle. The seat is really secure and I was able to buckle my 13 month old daughter inside easily and I felt like she was very safe as well.
Another feature that I love about this trailer is the wheels! The wheels pop on and off easily, yet stay very secure on the trailer due to the safety lock on the side of each wheel.
Connecting the trailer to my bike is also easy to do, and I am confident that the trailer would stay attached to my bike through just about anything!
This trailer also has a nice cover to keep bugs away from my daughter, as well as a rain cover too, in case of sprinkles!
We pumped up the tires on all of our bikes and ventured out on a cool morning. I was a little nervous that my daughter wouldn’t like riding in the trailer, but wanted to give it a try anyway.
I have to say that our bike ride was a huge success and my daughter loved riding in the trailer. She wasn’t happy about being buckled in the seat, but once we got underway, she was happy. She kept babbling and pointing at everything as we passed. We ended up only riding for two miles, instead of a much longer ride. My six year old was having a hard time keeping up with the rest of us, but I think he will get a little faster each time we go.
We had a wonderful time and got some great exercise as well. I am looking forward to riding our bikes all summer!
