Getting Back Into Exercise

I am trying to get back into the habit of exercising at least a few times a week. It has been so hard to find the time since my youngest was born almost a year ago! Before that, we loved going on long bike rides on one of the many trails nearby our house. My older children loved stopping along the way, finding pretty leaves, rocks and flowers to add to their nature collection at home. It was a relaxing time for all of us and a great way to get outside and get some fresh air. We live in northeast Florida. Here is a photo taken at our favorite bike trail in our town.

So I have been waiting until the baby was old enough to ride in a bike carrier that attaches to the back of my bike. We have one of these, an older model made by InStep that I bought second hand from Craigslist. However, it is practically falling apart from so much use! Since it was such a good carrier and held up so well for so long, I think I’d like to stick with the same brand. I’m thinking of getting something like this: InStep Sync Single Bicycle Trailer, Green/Gray. I know we would get a lot of use out of this for a long time. Although I might also take a look at Craigslist again to see if I can find something in good condition for less money, since this is our last child.

Either way, we are all excited to hit the trails very soon!

  3. It has been hard for me to get back in the swing of things. However, I have started going back to the gym and working out with a trainer. I find I need that extra push. I also love the elliptical.

  4. Hi I ave one of those trailers but mine is bigger and sits 2. I’ve had it now for 2 years and I love it I used it in the summer to ride my son and niece who I babysit. They both love it.. Get one you will love it!!!

  5. It took a long time for me to learn to ride bikes and finally I managed to ride for longer time without falling. Once I learned it, I enjoyed it so much to the point that I did not want to get off :) This was before I had kids… Now a days, I have this allergy towards exercise and biking and all that stuff.. but your post encouraged me to polish my biking skills as soon as the summer comes :)

  6. Great idea to find a way to exercise outdoors! I have not ridden a bike in years, sounds very appealing actually!
