Let me start by saying that I really love ice cream. I love all flavors, fat-free, low-fat, you name it, I love it. For Christmas this year my husband and children bought me a Cuisinart ICE-21R Frozen Yogurt-Ice Cream & Sorbet Maker, Red.
I had always wanted an ice cream maker but I didn’t want one of the add-your-own-rock-salt-and-ice types. They seemed messy and more work than necessary. So needless to say when I received this Cuisinart ice cream maker, which I had been eyeing in the stores and hinting about for months, I was thrilled.
I was able to try it out for the first time right after Christmas! This ice cream maker comes with a nice recipe book with many easy to follow recipes for just about every ice cream flavor you can think of, including frozen yogurt and sorbet. I decided on the Simple Vanilla ice cream recipe that day. Mixing up the ingredients was a breeze and once they had been chilled, I added them to the freezer bowl of the ice cream maker, which had to be frozen for a few hours prior to use. Thoroughly freezing the bowl, even overnight, is the key to a really good result with your ice cream maker!
I flipped the switch on the ice cream maker and was surprised by how quiet the motor was. In about 20 minutes, we had delicious soft serve vanilla ice cream! We poured it into a bowl and froze it for a few more hours until it was more firm, but it was just as tasty as it was.
The freezer bowl was easy to clean and we put it right back into the freezer so that it’s ready for next time!
I am already looking forward to summer and whipping up many batches of my favorite cold, creamy dessert!

Hi, I’m hopping over from MBC! This ice cream makes my mouth water – I would love such a machine! Enjoy it!
